T6 Update - 12-11-14 - High Winds

We have had to stop processing at the terminal because of extreme winds. We ask that if you have a truc

k in the yard that it moves to the rail yard until instructed to go back into the main yard. If your trucks do not want to stay to see if the winds subside they can go to the trouble desk and cancel their transactions.


Below is a copy of the high wind warning issued for the Portland area.


...High Wind Warning now in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to

10 PM PST this evening greater Portland and Vancouver Metro

area...I-5 corridor in southwest Washington...and Cascade



The High Wind Warning is now in effect from 2 PM this afternoon

to 10 PM PST this evening.


* Winds: southeast to south 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph

  possible. Gusts up to 65 mph possible in the foothills.


* Timing: winds rapidly increase this afternoon. The strongest

  wind are expected in the late afternoon and evening.


* Locations include: Vancouver...Battle Ground...Camas...

  Washougal...Hillsboro...Portland...Oregon City...Gresham...

  Troutdale...St. Helens...Toutle...Ariel...Cougar...



* impacts: significant property damage may occur resulting in

  structural damage in addition to numerous downed trees and

  power line issues. The winds will also likely cause travel

  problems for trucks...trailers...and other high profile



Precautionary/preparedness actions...


A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected

or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts

of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
